Golden Lake

Golden Lake

Hi, Everyone!

We filmed this week’s show on Golden Lake in South Central Wisconsin. A friend told me about Golden a long time ago and I finally made it.  I was lucky to get take a day off during the week; we had the place to ourselves. Most of the day was cloudy and windy, so the normal, summertime tactics did not work for me.

Any time you get wind and clouds, you can usually find a way to catch fish. I tied on a lipless crankbait and had a blast. I caught several in the three to four pound range. I can’t wait to get back to Golden again during normal, sunny weather.  I bet that there is a tremendous topwater bite when the conditions are right.

This week has been very busy in Spring Valley. It is the 24th annual MWC Walleye Tournament.  This is the longest running tournament in the country. The bite has been tremendous. You can catch the weigh-ins this Saturday and Sunday at Barto Landing in Spring Valley. Make sure that you stop in Time on the Water Outdoors for the fishing reports.

Speaking of Time on the Water Outdoors, we just received a ton of Spring Turkey hunting gear. This is just the first step in our quest to be a full-service hunting destination. We will be adding gear constantly to meet all of your hunting and fishing needs.

Remember, Time on the Water TV airs on Saturdays, at 9:30AM, on Comcast SportsNet Chicago!

Mississppi River – Pool 13

Mississippi River – Pool 13

Hi, Everyone!

This week’s show was filmed on the Mississippi River, in Savannah, Illinois.  Pool 13 has been a fishing hotspot in the state for as long as I can remember. The Mississippi can be great to fish, but, it is challenging. The river is constantly changing. Current, floods, droughts, and storms affect the river.  A great place to fish this year can be a dead zone the following year.  Navigation can be tricky for first timers, but Pool 13 is worth learning.

Thank you to all that came out to the Time on the Water Outdoors Open House. The response was overwhelming. It was great to see many old friends and to also meet several new ones. Thanks again!
Some of the hot items were, of course, Humminbird Side imaging and BioEdge attractants. We just about sold out of Shimano Voltaeus rods, too. We have a very diverse fishery here in Spring Valley. It seems that Voltaeus will work for bass, sauger, walleye, catfish, and white bass. Check them out.

Next week will be a busy one. The 24th Annual MWC Walleye Tournament will launch out of Spring Valley, at Bardo landing. If you’re not too busy, come down and check out the sauger capitol of the world, right outside our door!

Also, as always, remember, Time on the Water TV, Saturdays, 9:30am, Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
